I have used Mark Kiefer and Kiefer Landscaping continuously since 2000 at two different homes.  Mark designed the landscaping at both homes; provided and installed all trees, bushes, grass, walkways and hard surfacing; and provides annual maintenance.  He has a great eye for detail and how to use plants in the proper context to the property and buildings.  His designs and plantings bring continual compliments from friends and neighbors.  The landscape plants provided and installed are larger than can usually be found at many nurseries and are of great form and beauty.  I have found Mark to be fair and honest in all dealings.  He provides excellent quality at a fair value.  I think he is the best landscaping value for the money in the Durham-Raleigh-Chapel Hill area.

Kiefer has designed and built two major projects for us, giving us the best looking yard in our neighborhood.  We are especially happy with the redesign of our entrance which required coordination with the contractor resurfacing of our driveway.

Kiefer Landscaping has been the company I've relied upon for at least fifteen years.  They helped make my previous home and the current one far more beautiful.  Mark Kiefer is a very "hands on" owner who checks the progress of his jobs regularly and often he is out there himself working with the crews.  He has a superb "eye" for what needs to be done and the depth of knowledge required regarding drainage issues, light, and low maintenance.  His employees are also knowledgeable, very capable, efficient, and extremely polite.  Not only is Mark a landscape expert in terms of design and plant selection, he also employs craftsmen who can lay pavers, brick walkways, and trim trees and shrubbery properly.  I would never use any other company.  It's important to know that these services do not come inexpensively but they are worth everything.

Having worked with Kiefer Landscaping over the past 19 years I have been more than pleased with “my landscaper.” I call him “my landscaper,” because so long as I live in the area Mark Kiefer will be the one! Most recently Mark designed and planted our families new contemporary home in Durham, prior to this project he had landscaped my 1927 Georgian Colonial home in Morehead Hill, where my husband of that time and I had won a citation for Architectural Conservation from the Historic Preservation…no doubt Kiefer’s landscaping played an important role!!

Working with nightmarish grading issues and fields of clay in my new contemporary home almost made me want to sell it as quickly as we had purchased it, but thanks again to Mark, he turned our 1 acre piece of property into a magical forest of conifers, grasses, and flowering trees.
